Everyone else has definitely covered the two major episode reversals that bother me. (Unfinished Business/Stemwinder and ANCP/SGABNB). Season 4 had kind of grown on me a bit even with all the reasons to hate it. Francine actually gets a little more development character wise, although her clothes remain fantastically dreadful and we get to see L&A much more at ease with each other which often makes it more playful when they are busy teasing Francine and vice versa. Bring it on, I say. We'll find a way to enjoy every episode, I'm sure. Hey Janet! Thanks for adding your voice to the unfinished business santa's new bag swapping scenarios! I'm definitely going to take you all up on your advice here and walk through them in the swapped order. Unfinished Business will open season 4! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on season 4's events!!! and of your experience of having it grow on you. I'm looking forward to season 4 also, my concern was that it could become laborious if people are not into it.. so your encouragement to bring it on is indeed encouraging!!

I agree with the discussions about some of the episode order in regards to UB and Stemwinder, as well as the Dotty meets Lee episodes. While I know there is some hesitancy about season 4, I think it's still viable to walk through it. I know that my DVDs of the previous seasons and early season 4 get more of a viewing than the end of season 4. I would be interested to hear people's comments about how they feel. I find new insights and sometimes appreciate scenes that I didn't necessarily like before and gain some understanding of what may be going on. I also like how some can come up wth a better idea of how it should have been filmed or how we sometimes get script insights. Either way I will accept whatever way it goes. Hi Valerie - really wonderful to see you in smk fandom again!!! Sounds like you've had RL priorities and been working hard! Gooo Valerie!!! I bet you are doing an amazing job in your new role!! Thanks for adding your voice to the swapping question - Much appreciated! I'm feeling reassured it's the right way to go. Unfinished Business will open season 4! Thanks also for sharing that a walk through season 4 is viable. I am hopeful it will be.. and hopeful that together we'll find watching it and walking through it less ummm.. challenging? I don't really remember details of it just that the vibe from fans was rather meh! I too love to hear from everyone different views and ideas.. and while I love smk, having a laugh at things when the show is less than umm 'emmy worthy' is loads of fun. Because we laugh together and still love the show.. and the characters! Yes I love script insights too! Though these days I don't have time to review scripts and have to leave this contribution to others. Maybe as the walk continues, you and I could remember to ask after the script more often.. Thanks Valerie!

Hi Everyone, I've been thinking of season 4 and what's ahead. After about 3 years of walking through season 3, it now makes sense that it's going to be something I need to mentally prepare myself for! As I've said a few times now, I'll walk through Unfinished Business as the first episode of season 4. I actually just finished writing the blog posts for that episode [Huge thank you to Learjet for transcribing and formatting this episode!] Unfinished Business blog posts are all done! And I'm about to start on Stemwinders [Huge thank you to KC for transcribing this!!!! and to Learjet for formatting!!! ] I am needing to get ahead with blog posts before we jump into season 4, so my RL commitments don't get in the way of the walk continuing. I really don't like to pause mid episode.. it breaks up the flow of our conversations and what the episode is all about.. so I'll avoid doing that where I possibly can. But, I think I will take the odd break a little more often between episodes from time to time. I only have so many smk hours in a week - and during that time I can write blog posts, or I can respond to comments.. when I do both - I have much less time to get the blog posts written.. thus I need to get ahead. I really like to participate in discussions and respond to everyone's thoughts - because well.. everyone's contributions rock! The thought of not walking through season 4 never crossed my mind - but I have been considering how to do it, and make it the most enjoyable experience for myself, and for everyone who joins in the walk. Thus, I wanted to hear from you all your ideas. Thinking ahead for how to manage season 4 - I will likely reduce the detail for some episodes where it seems the episode is getting bogged down - but I do like to include all the dialogue everyone has contributed.. it is good to go back to.. so when the eps are a little on the dull side, I'll likely make things a little more short and snappy, but still include the dialogue.. and I'll try and reduce the number of photos included.. Learjet your suggestion to do this was a good one! Thanks for sharing your thoughts openly! I'll just have to use my judgement for what is dull or what is appealing and if anyone wants to cover something more than it was covered in the blog post - you guys are very welcome to do that in the comments. When things feel a little laborious for me as the writer of the blog posts, I'll take a break between episodes and refresh myself before moving on to the next. This will also help me to have more time to converse with commenters. Basically - I'm going to take it an episode at a time, and I have a few strategies ready to go - I will be as prepared as I can be! Lastly, I know I've said this elsewhere (can't remember where)- I admire KJ and her bravery in facing her cancer diagnosis/treatment and continuing to film right through to the end of season 4. It may not have been the ideal ending, but my view is that I'm extremely grateful that we got an ending at all in those circumstances. I'd like to honour her bravery - and also what I view as her selflessness in giving back to the fans of this show. She suffered through the end of season 4 physically, emotionally, spiritually and psychologically.. and I want to honour that. I figure the least I can do is write blog posts and cover the episodes - it's not really asking so much of me is it!! Not in the great scheme of things. I'm gonna walk through season 4 - in honour of KJ's bravery!

Hi All, I think when season 4 is feeling a bit blah, I'm going to need to come back to the comment I wrote above - and remind myself! Feel free to remind me to!!

As we head into Season 4, I just have to share something that made me laugh out loud for real. As some of you may know, there was a fan show this past weekend in Los Angeles that included a SMK reunion cast (well, some of it: Bruce, Martha, and Greg, plus Dr. Smyth and Paul Barnes). A fellow fan(atic) pulled some strings and got some of us a tour of the Ranch lot at Warner Bros where they filmed many of the outdoor scenes, like Amanda's house exterior. So we show up for the tour and we all receive one of these: i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg576/clagjanet/18157251_10154390790582093_326049026649049731_n_zpslhawixmc.jpg

Did you take any pictures of the ranch lot?

I'm also in agreement with episode order. I mostly liked season 4. It's been a while since I've seen some of these episodes. I do think that our group makes each episode a little better. Iwsod, as far as how to approach it, you do what works best for you. You may also find new ideas or time-savers as you progress through the season and adjust accordingly.

When I first encountered JWWM about 3 years ago, I immediately stopped watching wherever I was in the episode order of Season 4, so some of it is a blank slate for me. It seems like comments that have been made about Season 4 in the intervening years have me a little fearful of ruining my feelings for SMK. But I know that with Iwsod's brilliant writing and all the insightful comments of the wonderful writer colony that populates JWWM, I will be able to deal with my fears and most likely enjoy the journey just fine. So to echo Janet, bring it on, Iwsod!

Hi Sara, Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. Glad you are happy with just a few small changes! Thanks also for addressing my questions about changing how I approach season 4 - this is very much a work in progress.. we don't know what will happen.. we are going to get in there and give it a go.. and we'll make it up as we go along It's reassuring to hear you are fine with that- so thanks!

Hi Everyone, thought I'd share this here.. and open this up for discussion.. on JWWM Nancy wrote: "I am in total agreement with the altered episode order for Unfinished Business then Stemwinder AND for Any Number Can Play then Santa … There’s one more swap to consider since the chain on Amanda’s open heart diamond necklace was broken in Nightcrawler. Amanda wore a gold cross in the next aired episode (Billy’s Lost Weekend). Then, in the next aired-order episode (Photo Finish), she wears the open heart diamond necklace; however, in the following aired-order episode (The Man Who Died Twice), she wears the gold cross necklace in the beginning and, by the end of that episode, she’s wearing the open heart diamond necklace again. Therefore, following Nightcrawler, in my opinion: Billy’s Lost Weekend then The Man Who Died Twice then Photo Finish. Does anyone else recall noticing that? Being a Christian myself, I noticed it and wondered ever since if Bruce, who is also a Christian, gave it to Kate." I've replied stating: "Hi Nancy – Great to hear from you! I’d be open to this if there is consensus amongst JWWM followers – but this is not the best place to discuss it. If this discussion could head over to Nedlindger’s – maybe others could take a look at Nancy’s ideas and share their thoughts? Can you guys take a look at this? I’d rather avoid reading your discussions about it if there will be spoilers (others walking with us may also be trying to be spoiler free)- so let me know if you guys explore it and if I can read the discussion. There may need to be a spoilery discussion about it to explore it.. I don’t know! I can’t look at it because I’m not watching episodes ahead of blogging about them, so I need to rely on the JWWM folks together letting me know if something is obviously out of order. ‘Obvious’ can be subjective though – so I’d change the order of blogging only if it was a consensus. Any future walks could very well walk in a different order.. but for now – the default is to walk in airing order. When we get to these eps Nancy, could you remind me about this please? (if we don’t end up blogging them in a different order) I’ll be keen to explore this and your ideas when we get there 🙂" This is a discussion some of you may like to have, but if it is going to need to be spoilery, I'll share this and then leave the discussion so I'm not spoiled.. if someone can please let me know the outcome that would be great. the blog default is the blog in airing order - the experiment at the start of season 3 taught me that unless it's a consensus I don't want to try other orders - at least not on this first walk through a season. But Nancy may have raised very solid reasons to change order - and I can't explore it myself.. so if anyone is interested, can you please explore this and share your thoughts? If not - no worries. we'll explore Nancy's ideas when we walk through the episodes mentioned. byeeeee!
