Cool thanks Morley! I completely understand.. it's a little involved and best to go into detail once covered on the blog. I can't wait!!! I have posted on my blog the link to this thread and let people know this is being discussed if they would like to have a voice - I'm all ears. So far.. I'm thinking I'll go with Morley's order: 1 Welcome to America 2 OTL 3 Weasel 4 Wizard 5 ALLA I just found on smk-land [Hi Petra and thanks for such a fab resource!] the script dates are as follows: [I'll list in date order] Welcome to America Mr Brand- Rev. shooting final July 5, 1985 Over the Limit - Rev. Shooting Final July 15, 1985 We're off to see the Wizard - Shooting Draft July 16, 1985 A lovely little affair - Shooting Draft July 26, 1985 Tail of the Dancing Weasel - Shooting Final August 15, 1985 I think this is interesting.. gives us an indicator of the order in which the episodes were finalised.. and something to ponder.. Supports Morley's idea that OTL is much earlier! Though okay - Weasel is later - and it introduces the Q bureau apparently so LOL I guess they worked out the scripts out of order? or LOL... maybe they belatedly decided to write getting the Q bureau into the story after .. Did I just make things even more confusing?

This is so funny to me. It's like playing the shell game, but with the episodes. I would agree with Morley about the hair length in looking back at the eps. I think everyone is on the same page regarding Welcome to America. Personally it wasn't a favorite of mine, but I won't get into that right now. The hair was still a bit shorter in OTL for sure and there is no mention of the Q Bureau as well. It's those next three that are so tricky. Again, it's all about that connection between Lee and Amanda and their progress. Tail/Weasel is where the Q Bureau is introduced and they are trying to get it in ship shape. So I agree with it being after OTL. I agree with you Morley about Lee seeing Amanda distracted by someone else in ALLA and it motivating him. So I would agree with Morley's order as well. Well, it is official or has been for a few hours, I have a snow day tomorrow. YAY me!! We are seriously getting slammed with some snow and there are warnings about how low the temps are going to be. We will be in the negative digits for the next couple of days. There are whole states like Minnesota and Illinois who have cancelled school around the state. Some won't have school for the next two days because of the extreme temps. People are calling it everything from Snowpocalypse to Snowmageddon. Stores were packed yesterday with people stocking up with food and water. You would have thought it was the end of the world. It does look awfully pretty though. Hey Valerie- Apocalypse S-Now!!!!!!!!! [Sorry couldn't resist!!] hope you cope okay!

Love all the discourse on s3. Could be a dissertation in the future.... I can easily go with Morley's order! As long as we can get Leslie here & gone before Lee gets all green-eyed in ALLA and that delicious scene with Lee climbing in Amanda's window. *slaps self upside the head* So funny that we all have different reasons for our order. Not one of mine is logical ROFL! Just total emotional investment in seeing the backside of Leslie. I am so far gone down that bunny hole it's ridiculous! Enjoy your snow day Valerie and stay warm! When I was teaching in Los Angeles, the only time school was canceled was for earthquakes and riots. Hmmm, a snow day sounds much better!

No, Iwsod, not confusing to me at least.. Someone earlier suggested that maybe they couldn't get an actor available or something. Maybe the guy who played Harry Thorton wasn't available until August. But that episode (Weasel) has to at least come before Wizard, that is very clear and that is why it is so obvious that the airing order is messed up.
Valerie, enjoy the snow and stay warm. We had negative temperatures 2 days ago and tomorrow it is supposed to be in the 50's. Go figure. Can you say mud? I should go check and see if your storm is headed our way. Enjoy your snow days.

Yup Jule, here's to Leslie... um... "there and back again" can I use that misquote? It doesn't quite work, but you get the drift.

Funny, in my mind I always envisaged ALLA as being before OTL. Somehow I just couldn't see Amanda going down that track with Alan C after how OTL ended. But then the ending of ALLA also makes me wonder if it occurs after OTL. Very confusing. L and A's "closer" (or should I say, "more comfortable") relationship in The Wizard definitely seems to fit just after OTL - they seem to be more at ease with each other, the tension in ALLA and OTL has gone, Lee almost looks like he is apologising to Amanda when the wee matter of the 4 black books comes to light. The Weasel episode seems to fit next. As for Mr Brand, very amusing but it could be sucked into a black hole and no one would miss it, would they? No doubt we will winkle out every detail as we come to these episodes on "Just Walk With Me", so I won't go into in-depth discussion here.
So, the order in my disordered mind has always been : 1- ALLA 2- OTL 3- Wizard 4- Weasel
but I could easily be persuaded that OTL should come first.
Mr Brand, I'm sorry but... you're outta here! Am I being too harsh?

Am I being too harsh? Hiya Kiwismh! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! too harsh? no! not at all.. I love your honestly I will champion a little for Mr Brand though - well not him exactly.. the episode! I really like the episode! I love some of the story it tells - it is especially focused on Amanda and her work at the agency. I do think it is an episode that improves with a closer look. Mr Brand is in some ways similar to the way Amanda was in season 1.. there are parallels between their stories.. So it says a lot to me about Amanda and her story - which I love because this is such a rare thing for smk to actually focus on! So noooo we must have Mr Brand! ALLA before OTL? yeah nah.. Just looking at the tags I'd say OTL is before ALLA. ALLA is much more flirty I find the Tag of OTL to be less romantic and more friendship based.. okay I won't go into detail there. we'll get there soon enough. but.. it's going to be fun to look at all this again once the episodes have been covered.

Hi, everybody, most of you probably know me as Misty from Just Walk With Me. I used creaturecuddler here because it is my email and the name I usually use on sites. Didn't actually mean to use my first name on Just Walk With Me so I am back to creaturecuddler here. Okay, sorry that was an Amandaramble.
Okay, I actually didn't notice there was a discrepency in the season 3 episode order until just recently when I got my husband into watching Scarecrow with me. But it's obvious in Off To See The Wizard Lee and Amanda are in the Qberau which is the second episode aired but Lee is not assigned to the Qbeauru until the Dancing weasel which is the 4th episode aired. My first thoughts then were this:
1. A Lovely Little Affair 2.Over the Limit 3.The Dancing Weasel 4.Off To See the Wizard 5.Welcome to America Mr. Brand
That made sense to me because it made sense to me that after the huge reletionship shifts that take place in my opinion between Lee and Amanda towards the end of season 2 Lee is still not letting on how he feels about Amanda so someone else turns her head in A Lovely Little Affair. However, then we see Lee in huge denial mode in Over the Limit still to scared to take a chance with Amanda but obviously trying to find someone just like her. However, after hearing Morely's explanation of the scripts I am convince(she convinces me a lot over at Just Walk With ME.) I now see the episodes the way she does.
1.Welcome to America 2.Over the Limit 3.The Dancing Weasel 4.Off to See the Wizard 5.A Lovely Little Affair
I can see this order because I can see a show Like SMK choosing to start a season with something a little more light hearted like Welcome to America before diving into the romance. And after it being so long since Amanda has shown a serious interest in anyone at this point I can see it happening after Over the Limit when she sees Lee with Leslie. Like it was bad enough having to watch the bimbo brigade but seeing Lee with someone he could actually get serious about but it still not being her and being reminded just how many women Lee has been through in Off to See the Wizard could make Amanda go for someone who makes her feel special like she said Alan did in a Lovely Little affair.

Well, I never really expected everyone to get on board with my order, but hey, what fun! I am looking forward to season 3, but we still have so much wonderful stuff to cover before we even get to Mr Brand.
I am honored that I convince you creaturecuddler, but I never want to force my opinion on anyone. I just have too much fun thinking about the show. I think about it too much probably, but I can't help it. And now I have this great place to let all my thoughts pour out and what is even more wonderful is that there are all you folks who love it. It is just too much fun!!!

So I see a lot of talk about Leslie here. Is it just that people don't like her? I actually thought she was quite lovely, and refreshing change to the women we had seen to this point. That being said I don't like Lee with Leslie. I think Lee's interest in Leslie shows his tastes have changed so he has definately grown, but it seems so wrong to see Lee with someone else at this point. And I truly believe Lee only went for Leslie because he was looking for someone like Amanda but he wasn't yet ready to risk loosing Amanda by getting romantically involved with her so he figured he'd keep Amanda as a friend and colleague on one hand and find someone like Amanda to be with romantically on the other hand. The man wants to have his cake and eat it too. I actually find it a little physically painful that after all the growth I thought Lee made in season two to divert to something like that. But what really bothers me is that of all the women Lee has been with, this is the one that really seems to get to Amanda. I think when she saw him with bimbos, Amanda could write it off as Lee just not being ready for a real reletionship, but seeing him interested in someone who IMO was the kind of woman a man could be serious about must have made Amanda wonder what was wrong with her that he still wasn't showing interest in her. Sure he does at the end, but I can still see A Lovely Little Affair coming after Over the Limit because even though Amanda goes to dinner with Lee I am sure she never admitted to him just how deep that cut. And then along comes someone who makes Amanda feel special when I don't think Lee does yet. I think it's a good thing Lee woke up pretty quick and realized what he was doing with Leslie or he could have blown his chance with Amanda for good. Dressing Leslie up in Amanda's dress and calling her by Amanda's name. How slow to the uptake can one guy be? barf. I only point this out because I use to think ALLA had to come before OTL because Lee finally seems to get a clue at the end of OTL but whose to say Amanda would have just been ready and waiting when he did?

Oops I have a question. I thought I was pretty happy with the episode order Morley came up with but if we are to believe Off to See the Wizard came after Over the Limit, how do we explain Lee not being bothered by the rose in Over the Limit when he tells Amanda how much he hates them and why in Off to see the Wizard. He doesn't seem to be okay with them again until he gives them to Amanda at the end of that episode. gives me pause but I am open to interpretation because it still seems to me Over the Limit should be first.

Hi Iwsod, I've done a Misty. I've used my usual nom de plume on this site but for some reason use my real name, Shona, on Just Walk with Me.
The order for the first few episodes of S3 is a real problem, and now creaturecuddler has come up with the rose thing I am even more confused (but I must admit for the moment I can't remember where there is a rose in OTL - I shall just have to force myself to watch that episode...again...and again... and again). I'm getting really confused but hopefully all will be resolved as we work our way through the episodes on JWWM.

Total funny Morley! When do you sleep, between the kids and everything let alone find time for SMK?! Whatever you're using I want some!! ROFL! I sleep, no worries. I conk out around midnight and wake up around 6:30 because my 18 year old is up to go to school and he listens to some southern preacher on his speaker phone as he moves around the kitchen. SMK time is my me time. I love it that my "me" time is full of other people who are as crazy about this show as I am. Perfect!
I think I use "crazy" and it seems like you have your own supply, huh, Jule?

I like what you wrote Creaturecuddler, and I am looking forward to all of our discussion of Leslie on the blog. I bet it is the existence of Leslie that creates all the confusion for us over where Lee is at the moment in BO. I think OTL was a real eye opener for both of them. It was the end of the "status quo" I am sure. I like what you said about Lee not being willing to risk loosing Amanda and that was why he pursued something with Leslie. It doesn't mess up my view of the episode order though partially for the reason that you mention. It will be fun to discuss in detail when we get there won't it?
