I thought we had a place over here for these discussions, but didn't see a similar thread anywhere...
A note on Bo Hopkins, aka Nicky Cross in JEG:
Back in the late 70's/early 80's, I went with a friend to visit one of the lakes here in SC. She was very excited to take me for a boat ride to show me a house which was supposedly owned by Bo Hopkins. Apparently, he and Burt Reynolds were friends and Burt had been seen visiting there with Bo a few times. She was a bit fan of both and thought Bo was "hunky and sexy."

I remember Bo Hopkins primarily for his role in American Graffiti, but I believe he was also in Dynasty in the 1980's. Daniel Davis who has two guest appearances in SMK of course went on to star in "The Nanny" as Niles the Butler - his comedic acting ability is outstanding.

Yes, Bo was in Dynasty. I only watched it a few times, but my friend was a huge fan. My mom was into "Dallas."
I enjoyed Daniel Davis in "The Nanny." Niles was one of my favorite parts of that show.

I agree - loved Niles in The Nanny - he was laugh out loud funny! I watch a lot of British TV right now and there is an episode of Lewis where Simon Callow (Haddy Kemp in The Times They are a Changin) plays a flamboyant gay character named Vernon Oxe. He is very funny in that episode - Counter Culture Blues (one of my favorite Lewis eps) - series 3 in the US. Every time I watch it I keep seeming him with his Haddy hair - long, wild, and curly. Simon Callow was also in a Morse episode - The Wolvercote Tongue I believe - he ends up being a murder victim, I think.

BJo, I totally forgot about Simon Callow. He was also in Four Weddings and A Funeral, Phantom of the Opera, and Amadeus. And it took me a minute to connect all those dots because he's just so good and obviously versatile.

But anyone who can play a mad American bomber and an old flamboyantly gay British rock band manager successfully is very good and very versatile! Not to mention his roles in those other movies you mention (haven't seen them).

I guess my mind is going to mostly wander into SMK territory all the time now, but last night I happened to catch Flashdance on cable and Lucy Lee Flippin was in it as the secretary at the arts center where the main character wants to audition for dance school. She also sat in on the audition. Her character was definitely not like Congresswoman Faber in A Lovely Little Affair. This will probably continue as SMK was in the 80s and most of my favorite movies (besides my oldies) are from the 80s.

I've been re-watching the 1984 Masterpiece Theatre series (from Granada TV) "The Jewel in the Crown" (an AMAZING series), and who should turn up, but... Stuart Wilson, who played Volkenauer in Our Man in Tegernsee. He plays Jimmy Clarke, who has a one night stand with Sarah Layton. He's both charming and a little sleazy, and very self assured. He confirms Sarah's burgeoning world view (which rejects the classist snobbery of her family) and he challenges her own self-view, encouraging her to be happy (which she definitely isn't). In one scene, you get a very good look at Stuart Wilson's body: full rear nudity and a shot of him sitting down, where you nearly see his lap! It's a strong performance and I was amused to see that his SMK appearance was the same year as The Jewel in the Crown (1984) - such different characters!

Couple more that I thought of on Charlie's Angels:
Steven Sallee in "Dead Men Leave No Trails" -- Season 2, Episode 15 "Hours of Desperation"; Stanley Kamel is one of the baddies (playing a great rendition of someone who is paranoid and a bit detached from reality), probably best known as Monk's psychiatrist on "Monk," he's also been in about a GAZILLION other shows.
Sinclair in "Brunettes Are In" -- Season 1, Episode 9 "Bullseye"; Robert Pine, he's playing another baddie. And Season 2, Episode 12 "Sammy Davis, Jr. Kidnap Caper" - a hilarious episode that stars Sammy Davis, Jr. playing himself AND a Sammy Davis, Jr. look-alike. Robert Pine has also been in about a gazillion things, but is probably most known as the Sargent on CHIPs.
