I watched SMK when it first ran back in New Zealand. I really don't remember which episode I watched first--I have a feeling that I didn't fall across it until a little ways into the first season...?... but then I was totally hooked. I know I used to be a little annoyed when my sister would want to watch the show with me, 'cos she'd talk through it, and we didn't have a VCR so I couldn't tape it. (Which also meant that if I missed an ep when it ran I was SOL.) I rediscovered SMK recently-ish when I fell over it on Amazon Instant Video, and fell in love with it all over again. I found Iwsod's blog--justwalkwithme--and the rest is history... having a great time sharing the fun of a great show with like-minded (?) people. (My mind is odd, so I hesitate to use like-minded. LOL!)

I was in HS when it first aired. I remember watching it and really liking it, but I don't think I watched he whole series. It came on here and there when I had babies and I must have watched some episodes and remembered that I liked it. About 1 1/2 years ago I remembered it again and did a search for it on Amazon and ordered the first 2 seasons on DVD. That was when I fell in love with it. I had thought that I had liked it because of the main characters and as I watched it again I got caught up in them again. I love having the DVDs to really be able to spend time with it and I love it that there are others who feel the same way.

I watched the show during its first run here in the US. I was already a fan of both Bruce Boxleitner and Kate Jackson. I introduced the show to my then-fiance, now hubby, who was a KJ fan from Charlie's Angels. We enjoyed it together. (He making fun of the action scenes, me enjoying the growing romance between Amanda and Lee.) It was such a favorite show, and I was sad when the last episode aired.
After many years, I found a fanvid on YouTube, which lead me to the Yuku SMK forum, which lead me to the very-enjoyable Walk With Me blog, which is how I landed here. Of course, I had to collect all 4 seasons on DVD!
It's always fun to discuss a fun show. My youngest daughter enjoys the show as much as I, and my older daughter watches it when she's in the mood for a little romance. My hubby still makes fun of the action scenes, but he does watch with me. My son enjoys the action sequences and really enjoys Augie and TP, but he doesn't watch the show as often as I do.
edited to add: Of course, the fanvid would be "Sharp Dressed Man," featuring Lee Stetson.

My daughter aged 5 likes to watch it with me so I like to start them early I don't think there has ever been a programme I've watched which I've felt the need to follow blogs or discussion forums. Good job or I'd seriously never get anything done!

True, Jenbo. I have never watched a tv show that pulled me into it like this one has.

I started watching when it first aired in the 80's. I don't remember if I started watching it on my own or if my oldest sister started me on it - I know she liked it too. I had never heard of BB before this show, but I did know who KJ was because I'd seen some Charlie's Angels re-runs. I know I must have immediately fell in love with the show - the romance, the hunk and the car - because I still have practically all the episodes on tape from CBS. Some of the ones I missed I got from PAX when it aired there later. Then, like a lot of you here, I somehow re-discovered SMK via-online searching. I think I came across Yuku and some fan fiction first. Actually the Yuku result I found on a search was from a few years ago, so I dismissed it as being old. I found iwsod's blog and to my absolute delight found that it was a current project! It wasn't until after I stated to make comments that I realized the Yuku forum was current too - LOL! Oh well, I love this show, the journey of the characters and the 'innocence' of the time compared to today. And I love being able to discuss it with everyone here!

I began watching it when it first aired, having always enjoyed KJ and BB in other vehicles, and quickly became obsessed! It was my own little world that I could revel in between teaching and taking classes. I eventually wore my tapes out and alas, forgot about the show between getting married, working, raising stepdaughters, and ill parents; the usual trials and joys of life. A few months back I saw all four seasons were out on DVD and ordered S1 and after a couple of episodes threw caution to the wind and bought all of them and proceeded to immerse myself in the world of SMK again. Such a pleasure! And as a bonus, I have been delighted to find so many really nice folks online who love it as much as I do! So yeah to all of us for our collective good taste and romantic natures!

My siblings and I watched a lot of television growing up. My dad was into westerns and I first saw BB in How The West Was Won. Didn't really swoon over him until SMK. I had seen KJ in The Rookies and loved her and Sam Melville as a married couple. Then when she was in Charlie's Angels I liked her because she was the smart one. SMK started when I was in college and I was hooked from the beginning. It was one of my favorite shows. It was a while before they did reruns on PAX here in the US and it was on another channel for a while. It was funny because in reruns they deleted all the curse words. When I came upon them again recently hearing those words sort of threw me off.
I recently got a Kindle and discovered them on Amazon and went ballistic and had to watch them all immediately. When Amazon took them off instant video I just went ahead and ordered all the DVDs. Now I can watch whenever I want. I have since discovered just how many people truly loved this show and have been watching fan videos, reading fan fiction, and enjoying the justwalkwithme blog. It is so nice to chat with others who don't see me as crazy when I try to explain why this show is so awesome.

Oh Valerie, I am with you! I don't even bother to explain to most people my obsession with SMK because they would seriously doubt my sanity. My husband is not sure and he lives with me LOL!

What a great idea for a thread Jenbo! I’ve already shared my smk story.. over on yuku .. I’ll find it and post it here:
My story: I was about 9.. watched a few episodes from season 1. I was so young that my mother basically had say over what I watched and if I watched.Mad I have a few episodic memories of smk and that's about it. I have tiny memory flashes of: - the scene of Amanda, Dotty and the boys sitting at the table and sorting out how it was all Amanda's fault Dr Bain hurt his foot(If thoughts could Kill), - the rescue scene from service above and beyond – burned on my retinas that is!!!! - Amanda spraying the car windscreen with a hose ( fearless dotty).. Memory is a funny thing isn't it!
Because I had no control over what I watched and didn't have a VCR I missed most episodes.. it was torture. I remember being very upset I had to go with my mother late night shopping - when smk was on! So I would (yet again ) miss it!!
Another flash memory: I remember once, we were in the shopping centre coming out of the supermarket - I could see in the electronics shop their tvs were showing SMK! I was soooo upset!!! It was the moment that Lee and Amanda jumped off the Castle into the water in the legend of das geisterschloss! I only know that now that I have seen it.. but back then I don't think I got to see any season 2... and I had no idea how long the show went for in Australia – anyone??.. ( thank goodness or I would have been really upset!) I gave up on the show because I could never watch it basically.. it was a coping mechanism-
Nearly 20 years later, I was babysitting one night, and the job had cable tv (I didn't have it myself)- I caught the last 5 minutes of fast food for thought and I was dumb struck!!!Eek I had not seen smk in over 20 years - and even then it was only memories of cocky immature Lee (swoon he had me hooked!) and Amanda fighting to be taken seriously.. So to catch the end of fast food for thought was a revelation! I had no idea what I was looking at or what season or anything - Lee looks a bit older ( but still gorgeous), Amanda looks more professional.. and Francine was being given chocolates by Amanda?? eh?? -and Lee is siding with Amanda now??? Against Francine?? Rock on!! and sharing little private jokes with Amanda???!!! Rock on!! The intimacy between Lee and Amanda, Here was palpable- and in such contrast to the last memories I had of smk I just had to find out what happened to the show and how Lee and Amanda got there!
Sooooo sometime in 2007 I started searching the net.. and from there my story is very similar to others, I bought and watched all the official columbia videos, bought the blurry anniversary dvds, and bought the offical dvds when released ( the smk drug of use keeps getting stronger and more addictive-I notice Yay! I'm IWSOD, and I'm an smk Fanatic! Yay!
As an adult I am still drawn to Lee ( it's in my DNA I think..) but.. as I am working my way through and 'studying' the episodes now, I am struck more and more by how great the character Amanda King is .. how great the writing is .. and how everytime I watch an episode I see something I have never seen before
Guys, I'm so glad we found each other and can enjoy the show together!!
So now you know how I was deprived and tortured in my childhood - is my smk obsession a little clearer??!! ha!
edited to add- I'll be back to read and respond to everyone's smk stories! I want to savour them slowly!!!

Sorry for rather clunky title I wasn't sure how to word it. i am interested to know how you all came across the little gem that is SMK. I imagine for the most part many of you saw it first time around but I thought I would ask anyway. i remember seeing BB in Bring 'Em Back Alive first (it was around the time everyone was cashing in on Indiana Jones success so Tales of the Golden Monkey and its ilk were being aired) and then when I saw SMK I recognised who he was so watched. i would have been probably 8 or 9 at the time and my only recollection of SMK is the opening titles, Lee running close the reflecting pool (I think, not very au fait with DC land marks) and Amanda slipping in the rain next to the taxi. I cannot recall a single thing about any of the episodes (not all were aired and I don't think it was prime time slot either) or indeed how many of them I saw. And then I forgot about it for the next 30 years! I remember nosing around YouTube and for some reason decided to look up SMK where I discovered lots of fan videos and the rest they say is history. You remember hunky BB.. but don't really remember the show?! You probably weren't watching the show.. yuu were transfixed by Lee maybe! I know of Bring em back alive but don't remember any of it. was it any good??!! I have memories of tale of the gold monkey though! Do you remember what jogged your memory to start looking up smk Jenbo? what was the smk video you saw on youtube? I remember seeing one where I thought Lee had died!! I was traumatised! So as we are walking through the episodes, have you seen them recently? or are you watching them like me: pretty fresh and haven't seen them in quite a while? A great idea for a thread Jenbo! I'm going to slowly work my way through these fab stories! Okay gotta get off the computer! byee everyone!

I honestly cant remember if Bring Em Back Alive was any good but I always wanted to watch it. Likewise Tales of the Golden Monkey but have no real recollection of either of them. Assuming SMK aired in UK at similar time to US then I would have been 7 or 8 when I first saw it. BB was my first childhood crush What jogged my memory? Hard to say......was probably reminiscing about my childhood TV shows and it popped into my head. So I Googled it, then decided to Youtube it and then found the forum and started looking into the DVD's. The rest as they say is history I greedily watched each disc as I received it but I didnt really take my time so when I found your blog I decided to start from the very beginning with your blog as reference I am nearly caught up but have fallen behind in posting due to house move. I am holding off watching further ahead than the blog has got as I want to savour each episode LOL

I first started watching SMK when I was 16. I watched until it went off the air. I had the hugest crush on BB and his posters covered my walls. I also remember seeing him on BEBA but really became a fan during SMK. Now my nine yr old daughter and I watch SMK dvd's. Of course, she thinks I'm nuts for thinking BB is still sexy. She secretively loves the show too!
