Ok - so I've been watching this show called 'Chuck'. I'd never seen it before and I've been binge-watching it on Netflix. All along I've been thinking about the similarities it has to SMK but today I watched early episode of the final season. The two main characters are standing in front of a house that they want as their 'dream house'. It's AMANDA's HOUSE!! The actual house.... I'm sure someone here already knew this but I was completely blown away.
So that's my SMK trivia for the day....

I've seen SMK references elsewhere to Chuck - maybe on Yuku? I know BB is credited with two Chuck episodes on IMDB as Dr. Woody Woodcomb... and I think people have mentioned in-jokes? I've only seen a handful of episodes of Chuck - maybe I should watch more... LOL. Happy SMK trivia day.

Does the house still have the weird eagle thing over the door or something covering it up?

LOL iwsod... I think the pitt family would be using their walker on the way by :-). I'll have to watch again to look for the eagle thing. And yes - BB plays the father of one of the characters.
It does remind me a lot of SMK. In some parts its almost a glimpse into what we might have gotten if SMK had been able to continue longer after Lee and Amanda's relationship became romantic. There are some weird parts too but I forgave a lot of plot problems in SMK (like in the current episode we are discussing - Wizard anyone?? ) so I can do it for Chuck too :-)

I watched the whole Chuck series on Netflix. It really has an SMK feeling to it. When they were casting for the roll of Chuck's Mother, I had read that many were hoping that they would cast Kate Jackson. I knew that it was the same house

When they were casting for the roll of Chuck's Mother, I had read that many were hoping that they would cast Kate Jackson. I knew that it was the same house That would have been fun although I would have preferred Kate Jackson play Devon's Mom since BB played Devon's Dad. And I did like Linda Hamilton in the role of Chuck's mom. I do wonder if someone on the 'Chuck' staff was a BB fan between using the same house, casting him in the show, the parallels in the storyline, the Tron poster...:-).

I forgot about the Tron poster. After my last post I was thinking of the similarities in the shows. It makes me wonder if someone from the SMK writing team was on the Chuck team.

I've recently started watching Chuck because I read about it somewhere and then my daughter's teacher said I should try it when I was telling her about my SMK addiction. So I took the plunge and bought all 5 series in one (hugely indulgent) go. Fortunately both my husband and I enjoy it or I would have had to donate to someone. I also had a strong sense of SMKness, although the romance bit is not nearly as subtle as SMK (which is one of the things I love about SMK). We're only part way into series 2 but I have started a list on similarities (Yes really, it is a tad embarrassing) 1) They (Amanda and Chuck) both fly a helicopter in the first episode of the series, having never done it before 2) the same blue marlin that sporadically is in Billy's office is in Big Mike's offic and even has a starring role in one episode 3) "Stay in the car" 4) and there is something essentially decent, human and caring about both CHuck and Amanda, their love of their family, desire to protect the people they love etc Can't wait for the two BB episodes And on a non-SMK related point - we just love Casey - totally hilarious - he gets the best lines

Hey! Don't forget that Amanda tells Dotty she's going out with her friend "Chuck" in . . . which episode was it?

Ramble alert! I do have a point so bear with me. In a response to one of my reviews of Scotch Thoughts and Window Reflections morely pointed me in the direction of JWWM which lead me here. Also it lead me to Chance Encounters. It has been several years since I have visited Chance Encounters. Mostly I stay on fanfiction.net since I figure most stories end up there anyway. There were more stories on Chance Encounters than there were the last time I looks. This morning I started to read the one I haven't seen before. To my surprise and delight she has some SMK/Chuck crossovers. Thought you would enjoy the authors note.
Here is the authors note for "Chuck versus the Weekend" "I am a huge fan of both Scarecrow and Mrs. King and Chuck and often see similarities between the two shows - after all, they both focus on danger, excitement, intrigue. Both shows center on ordinary people becoming involved in extraordinary situations. A civilian, if you have, becoming mixed up in the world of espionage and forever changing the "lone wolf" spy they are paired with." Author: Anne Riener
Learjet, I think Casey is pretty cool, too. A big bear with a marshmallow heat. Hey didn't Lee call Billy a bear once? Billy definitely has a marshmallow heart.
Okay, I am done now.

I've also enjoyed those crossover stories. And she manages to capture slightly grumpy Lee well, and the Amanda/Chuck understanding each other.
I watched one of the two episodes in which BB plays Awesome's dad.the episode itself wasn't too exciting but it was great fun seeing him in the role - he was so perky (his personality) - so strange to see the same mannerisms and voice but his face is so much older. I have to say that (on a purely superficial note!) I prefer his hairstyle (much shorter!) and he was in v good shape (in his cycling gear)

Hi to the Chuck fans at JWWM. I'm just bringing this thread back to the top. It seems "the house" came up and started this thread three years ago .
