Hi All!
I just finished a full SMK Rewatch. I haven't done a full one since 2016. I always watch episodes here and there, but haven't done the full rewatch, in a few years. Man, I am in love with this show all over again! I wish it could have gone longer! It's such a shame how it ended, due to Kate's health. Wouldn't you have loved to see them in the 5th season, with maybe their marriage getting revealed to Dotty and the boys... or even with a baby on the way? Can we just chat about it?? What I wouldn't have given, for that!!

I'm rewatching now and am on s1e13. Spies catching KGB members feels cathartic to watch in light of today's politics. Weirdly only s2-4 are on amazon so I went with AppleTV instead.

I started watching due to COVID isolating about a month ago and I’ve been enjoying all the episodes with renewed love. I’m loving the humor more, love Dotty now (didn’t really have any feelings for her before), and can really laugh at the technology, the “enemies”, and the clothing. I’m even more in love with Amanda and Lee. I get all giddy at a flirt or a wink. I clap when they kiss. I never noticed how MUCH they touch (swoon). I had noticed that they touched but not as much as they do! I was so excited to find JWWM and this chat site. I’m with my people!

I'm rewatching another series at the moment and typically can only watch one episode a day. I'll watch SMK before we walk through an episode. I do plan to do a complete rewatch of SMK at some point. It'll still only be an episode a day, likely. But I find I enjoy it more when I'm seeing it unfold episode by episode rather than jumping around. Like others say, it gives you even more appreciation for the show.

I really need to sit down and do a proper start to finish rewatch, but my schedule went ot hell when my entire family started working form home in March and there are always people underfoot!
I always found Dotty amusing, but growing up (from when it firstaired) has given me a renewed appreciation for Francine and her excellent zingers and level of snark.

Yes, what is the deal with season 1 not being on Amazon? I actually have all of the DVD's, but have purchased a bunch of episodes on Amazon, leading to having the complete seasons 2 and 3 purchased, now. Sometimes it's just easier to go into Amazon Prime on the TV, then finding the DVD's. Anyone know why season 1 is unavailable on Prime? And starbreiz, are all episodes on Apple TV?
It was great doing the full rewatch, from start to finish. Some of the Kate-light episodes are difficult to watch. I just kept thinking "what if...". Like, this show is 37 years old, yet I still can't help but think that, when watching them.
I too was a child, when the series first aired. I was the same age as Jamie's character, so I was 8 to 12 when the series first aired. Watching as an adult, I've appreciated so much more. Yes, they are always touching, even right from the start!! (Swoon)!! And I just love Dotty too... she is the cutest and Beverly is very funny!
I'm not ready for it to end, so I'm starting all over again... I watched "The First Time" again, last night <3

I, too, noticed that Season 1 is not on Prime - but the DVD isn't available either. I am thinking it's a publisher thing. I have all the DVDs but I also bought them for streaming so I can watch them anywhere. (Oh, geez, I have it BAD! LOL <3 ) I was able to buy season 1 on VUDU, so now I have all seasons on streaming as well.
Oh, I am so in love with this show. I was a teenager when it aired originally, and I absolutely loved it then. My bedroom was plastered with pictures of Kate Jackson and Bruce Boxleitner from every teen magazine I could buy with my babysitting money. The picture that I have as my avatar I had on my wall! I think I might have even saved some of the pictures. As an adult, my appreciation has just grown, although I do not have my walls plastered with their pictures anymore LOL.
I remember watching and noting how they would walk arm in arm, how she'd tuck her arm in his, how they'd hold hands, and how he'd "guide" her with his hand on the small of her back. I remember loving how he'd open the car door for her. I loved how he'd take care of her, protect her, and cherish her. I formed an image in my teenage mind of how a man should treat a woman. I became really picky about men, that's for sure! I learned by watching the best!
During this turbulent time with COVID, riots, and the election, S&MK has been a wonderful distraction. There is so much nostalgia embedded in it for me, which brings such a warm, gooey feeling. There's a comfort in the familiar. I love this show!

I have had a similar experience...the nostalgia factor is off the charts for me when it comes to SMK, and the warm-blanket effect it renders has been a lifesaver during what has been an otherwise pretty bad year for me (and for all of us). Until last April, I hadn't watched the show (to speak of) since its original run when I was a teenager, and although I remembered it very fondly and recalled the overall premise, I had very few clear memories of the episodes. So it's been fun to be able to re-live the whole series with a near-blank slate. As I've been re-watching I've come to realize that Lee and Amanda are my all-time favorite couple...they were just sort of dormant in my conscious for a long time. Their story had an enormous influence on me as a young girl, that's for sure...just didn't fully understand this when I was growing up. During the re-watch, I've thoroughly enjoyed the little details and nuances I missed as a kid, and I also get a kick out of looking at the original air dates and thinking back to what I was doing at that point in my life. I'm very gratified to have stumbled across this little community, just wish we could talk live! Be well -

I just started rewatching the series on iTunes. It's nice seeing them all again - in good quality too. I think I have a single DVD (season 2) around somewhere but it's just easier to stream them instead. And I'm thinking... I kinda miss this kind of entertainment. It's not the kind of thing that's promoted these days - a funny/romantic show where the characters wait 3 years before they kiss? Some shows don't even wait 3 minutes for that. So yeah... taking a nice trip down memory lane here.

Despite being unfortunately cut short, the series still stands up as the best example of a slow burn of friends to lovers to spouses and left us knowing they were safely together forever. It is indeed a rare jewel for that.

Like so many others here, I was a fan back in the 80s when I was entering high school and have gone head over heels for SMK again during covid. Wow, did I LOVE this show as a teen, but I didn't have much respect for Amanda back then. Watching the show now, I see her in such a different light. The writers do certainly make her look dingy more than I'd like, but considering the number of times Amanda comes up with an angle on a case that seems pretty obvious to me as a viewer, when career professional agents hadn't thought of the idea -- no one comes off as particularly brilliant.
I've also gone down the SMK fanfic rabbit hole - what a fun ride! I just love that people have taken these characters into their imaginations and run with it. In high school, my best friend and I started writing an SMK fic - the only thing I remember about it was that it involved Lee being attacked at home (while wearing his pajamas), him pulling a gun out but getting overpowered, then he and Amanda being tied up in chairs and them being injected with sodium pentothal (which, presumably, would have led to them having some kind of truthful conversation about their feelings for each other). If only I still had those couple of pages of handwritten notes/dialogue!
Happy to have found JWWM and Nedlindgers so I can ramble about my latest fandom (re)obsession!
