I taped many of my shows off of the family channel and I just found a scene in the triumvirate in the DVD that was cut for the family channel. Come on! It is part of the scene where they are at the safe house and amanda says why she still works for the agency. Is there a thread comparing our old vhs versions and the new DVDs?

I don't anyone's started a discussion like that yet. I also watched SMK taped off of tv before getting the dvds, but I can't remember now what parts they cut. I do sort of remember seeing things in the dvds that I didn't remember seeing in the tv versions, but I can't remember what the differences were now. Glad you made it over here from JWWM, though!

Well, since they simply didn't air quite a number of episodes here in Germany (nor are they airing them now - too costly to dub them, I guess, for such an old show) there's quite some new stuff I discovered on the DVDs. Among other things the "Munich episode" as I call it.

Among other things the "Munich episode" as I call it. As Jestress knows, I have the German SMK DVDs and I was amazed that that they didn't dub some of the most important episodes - wasn't Nightcrawler on that didn't make it to German?? The scandal! Can't believe that they missed that scene in the Triumvirate. It's part of that sequence of swoonworthy scenes. Even transcribing it was no hardship. And may I say belatedly, welcome amy to JWWM and the procrastination tool that is Neds .

I watched the show when it came out originally and was immediately hooked. It aired a few times in reruns on other channels and I tried to tape it on VHS but never got every episode. When it did go into reruns they would air out of order and there was one channel called PAX that was an early version of The Family Channel and they cut out a lot of what they thought was questionable language. It threw me off when I hadn't seen it in a while and felt like bits and pieces were missing. Sometimes I notice in the DVDs that they have changed or dubbed in a different group that they are having intelligence issues with. I think in Unfinished Business that originally Nazis were mentioned, but it was somehow changed or dubbed over. I own all four seasons on DVD and have gone through them several times and they are what I remember watching when it originally aired.

Hi Amy this is a great question! If you find the differences between what aired on pax and the dvds interesting - I'm sure we'd all love for you to write a post about it for JWWM sometime! Just an invitation - no obligation to do so So I'm sorry I can't direct you to one specific thread somewhere about this- but I know over the years there has been discussion in the episode threads of the yuku scarecrow and mrs king forum - you may want to go read over there.. this is because that forum was running before the official dvds were released and during the 4 years they were released. I'd suggest you search for the word pax... There are some lovely fans there too. [The link is on the JWWM sidebar] I originally only saw a few smk episodes on tv. then I rediscovered the show on youtube.. and then bought fan created dvds of the whole show - that were dvds of what was aired on pax and really low quality- but I was sooo grateful for them!!!! At that time, there were no official dvds and we were all resigned to there possibly never being any. But hooray! Warners came through for us after all.. So while I watched the pax version for the first time of many smk episodes, I can't really remember any scenes that had been cut. I'm a bit vague on the details now.. I guess it was nearly 10 years ago. lol.. and I only really remember the official dvds.. if at all! Though my season 3 memory beyond what I've blogged so far is very vague and season 4 is just as vague.. and I'm trying to keep it that way so I can blog the episodes fresh. Oh yeah so just explaining - while Neds is fab for discussing what's ahead of JWWM, I'll be avoiding those threads here - so sorry I'll skip those discussions for the moment -but rest assured.. there are others here who will love to discuss ahead bye for now!
