Hiya, I sometimes get asked questions about what software I use over on the blog.. so thought I'd create a thread for this kind of sharing over here - as this is off topic on the blog. First let me be clear: I'm not an expert at all lol.. and am probably not up to date with the latest. But I have something I know, and that works - so why change?! lol. I use AOA DVD Ripper to download the dvds in .avi format. this cost $$ but no idea how much I originally paid... www.aoamedia.com/I then use GOM player to play the .avi version, and automatically take screen grabs of episodes in batches - save me loads of time.. I can select the images I want to use in the post and then delete the rest. www.gomlab.com/ This player is free and tends to prompt updates lots - along with offers to add other annoying software which you have de-select when updating. Annoying but easy to do - if you go with this software be careful to read through the prompts when they get you to update. I figure I get it for free, it works and a little annoyance is worth it. I'm sure others here have better recommendations - but I"m sticking with what I've got for now.. bye!

Thanks so much. I have Any Video Converter so I can probably use that for converting the AVI file but I'll have to look into that DVD ripper. I use Any Video Converter for that too but it doesn't recognize all DVDs so sometimes I'm out of luck.

Hello, it's tech talk time!!! I've been asked over on the blog the following: "How do you blog as you go and not lose your place on the DVD? Do you just keep the same disc in until you finish the blog and not watch anything else the entire time? Or do you have one of those awesome players that remembers when you put a disc in? "
- I don't watch the episodes on DVD. I have the episodes all burned onto my computer in digital format. (see above where I've explained what I do).
I don't have trouble keeping track of where I am up to in the episode - because I'm writing the blog post as I go. Taking the screen grabs as I go. So it's easy for me to find where I'm up to in the episode and find where I'm up to because I haven't watched beyond where I'm up to.
