I'm actually pretty divided on which one is my favorite. If we're going on looks, I think Lee and Steele are the two best-looking (at least, think I so, although it's been a long time since I've seen McGyver). Lee seems more physically daring than Steele, although Steele does his share of risk-taking and actually is a good fist-fighter. Steele seems more sympathetic sometimes with people who are in trouble than Lee, probably because he's had such a troubled past himself, although Lee becomes a much more caring person throughout the series. They both have their share of relationship issues, but it's different for each of them. At first, Lee doesn't seem to want a steady relationship with anyone, but when he settles on Amanda, he's whole-hearted and mature about the relationship. Steele makes it clear that he's interested in Laura from the very beginning, but they tend to be kind of on/off about it (mostly due to Laura's early insistence on not mixing business with pleasure) and they also play immature games with each other (although I think Laura is equally to blame for that). As for investigative skills, they're both good at going undercover (although I think I prefer Steele's ability to imitate different accents). I think Steele is better at getting information subtly (Lee is better at direct interrogation), and Lee is better with weapons (Steele doesn't like using a gun). Of course, this is just my impression. Overall, I think they're pretty equal. Lee is an educated and highly trained government agent, and Steele is a man of mystery who came up from the streets, has learned through hard experience, and still appreciates the finer things in life. Right now, I'm actually leaning toward Billy. He's an older, married guy, which doesn't make for romantic fantasies, but I like the way he tries to influence Lee to thinking about a permanent relationship and how he is righteously indignant when he finds out that someone was cheating on his wife. He apparently came up through the ranks as a field agent and survived in a risky profession to become the boss, and he does occasionally do field work in spite of having been behind a desk for awhile. He's an interesting person, and I'm kind of curious about his history. I may change my mind later and vote for one of the others, though. I noticed that my vote isn't permanent until the poll closes. I don't suppose I can vote for three people at once, can I? I think I set the poll so you can only vote once but it's open for 6 weeks, which I chose arbitrarily (because I can ) Who would have thought Billy would garner 2 votes ? I suppose it depends on your criteria. I'm actually fascinated by Jeannie. Wish we had more about her other than fruit cake and the occasional non-informative mention. I admit to never having watched much of RS, feeling prejudiced against Pierce Brosnan (he really doen't float me boat. Too pretty IMO, makes Lee look rough and macho in comparison). But Laura appeals. However, I don't think I can afford another grand passion in my life. SMK is pretty time consuming.

I'm probably alone in hating the mustache. It's not so much that I'm completely opposed to mustaches, but when I was in elementary school, I actually had a p.e. teacher with a Tom Selleck style mustache. Considering how bad I am at sports, it brings back traumatic memories. (Jestress shudders.) It's not that I don't like Magnum PI, it's just that I'm afraid he can never be cool enough to completely wipe out the memories. When it comes to mustached detectives, I think I might have to go the classic route and stick with Poirot. Now that I think about it, Billy also has a mustache, doesn't he? For some reason, I don't really think about his. I don't like the moustache either. And Poirot's...(double shudder) - I prefer TS's. Does anyone else think that KC might possibly, just maybe, like TS's moustache just a little bit ?? He does have great eyes though!

I like Magnum, PI and Remington Steele, too. MacGyver is largely my favorite because he's so good at making something out of whatever he finds. (Yeah, my hubby is a bit that way, too. Lucky me.) Mostly, though, he has such gorgeous eyes. Lee has gorgeous eyes, too, and I do enjoy seeing those dimples, but Mac edges him out just a bit. Remington is a little too polished for me. Magnum seems a little out-of-his-element in ways that bother me. I can't really describe what I'm saying, though - it's just how he comes across to me. Billy is such an interesting person. I would enjoy knowing more about him, too. He seems to have been a top agent, earning his place with the respect of his peers. I like the fact that, while he still does what has to be done, he hasn't lost his humanity in the process. (Francine and Lee were well on their way to losing theirs until Amanda came along. I think Billy was doing his best to teach them that aspect, but Amanda's appearance gave him another approach. Another reason I think he threw Francine into Amanda's orbit more than once.) This is such a fun poll, Learjet. It's fun hearing how others view these guys.

I think I'm fascinated by people who have complex personalities, especially if they have sides to their personalities that aren't obvious at first. Awhile back, I had a kind of fascination with Johnny Depp because he looks so wildly different in each of his roles. He started out his career being kind of a teen idol, if I remember right, but then he became more of a character actor (which is probably smart because you can't be a teen idol forever, but you can be a character actor at just about any age). I think that kind of complexity is what fascinates me about Lee, Steele, and Billy. They all have hidden depths. As for Poirot's mustache, I think it's kind of amusing. Not really what I'd call attractive, but kind of a fun character trait.

I was 13 when it started, and I was a fan. I really don't have any desire to revisit this show....

"Does anyone else think that KC might possibly, just maybe, like TS's moustache just a little bit ?? He does have great eyes though!" Gotta have a hobby...!!!... Hey--if we're talking just pin-up poster boy, TS is where it's at. BB and PB are pretty and RDA loses via the mullet. Actually--confession time--the only two pinups I had on my walls when I was a kid were James Garner (Maverick) and Iva Davies (from Icehouse)--the thought of the latter totally and absolutely cracks me up now... But yes, TS, James Garner, Sean Connery, Omar Sharif... I think I'm partial to dark hair, crinkly smiley eyes and moustaches--not necessarily in that order (and yes--not all of them have all of the afore-mentioned, except for dark hair). (Hey--Billy Melrose makes that list of attributes!) Wah hah hah... I'll let you all laugh yourselves silly now!

Oh good grief, I just had a look at Macgyver's hair. Clearly I loved him for his mind and practical abilities, not his hair. Are those highlights??? A big no-no for me. Also find PB too smooth. ( KC, you think Iva Davies' hair is more "acceptable" than Macgyver's? )

... ( KC, you think Iva Davies' hair is more "acceptable" than Macgyver's? ) Like I said, "... the thought of the latter totally and absolutely cracks me up now..." It totally wasn't the hair that did it for me (obviously -- mega-mullet) -- I'm really not sure what it was that did it... actually, I do -- I liked the song "Electric Blue": Don't hold the foibles of my youth against me now...

I still like listening to Icehouse (Great Southern Land, Crazy) Look at you, girl -- getting your Australian on! (But those two don't have the saxophone solo... one of the best parts of Electric Blue.)

Who is who? (is it just me that sees the resemblance?). Maybe it's best to listen to the voice (and saxophone solo) and close our eyes....

All this talk of mustaches reminds me of an episode of Phineas and Ferb, the one where Doofenshmirtz's evil plan for the day is to use his Mustache-inator to give people ridiculous mustaches "because as we all know, there's nothing sillier than a big, bushy . . ." (Doofenshmirtz trails off, noticing that the head of the spy organization also has a mustache and is glaring at him.) That part starts at 2:04 in the Youtube video:
